Last checked: November 6, 2026. Confidence: medium. Covers the Strip only. The City of Las Vegas (downtown, Fremont Street) is a separate jurisdiction and is not covered yet.
This is not legal advice. It is a plain-English summary of public city rules. Codes change, posted code text can lag new ordinances, and some rules have been challenged in court. Confirm with the permit office linked below before your team hits the street.
- Clark County Code 16.12 bans "off-premises canvassing" on public sidewalks in the Resort District: repeatedly handing out flyers that primarily propose a commercial transaction. Signs are posted about every quarter mile.
- The Resort District covers Las Vegas Boulevard from Circus Circus Drive to Four Seasons Drive, parts of Convention Center Drive and Paradise Road, and 150 feet along each major cross street.
- A Clark County Public Works special event permit is needed when an event affects normal traffic on a public street (the county counts sidewalks as right-of-way), filed at least one month ahead with insurance listing the county and LVMPD.
- Court context: in S.O.C. v. County of Clark (9th Cir. 1998), the court found the original ordinance likely overbroad. The county narrowed it in 1999.
Verifythat the current ordinance is enforced; City of Las Vegas rules for downtown.
